rsync.net has built it's own global cloud storage platform. We aren't just reselling someone elses cloud. Our locations are:
- Fremont, California, USA - Our Silicon Valley location - inside the core Hurricane Electric (he.net) datacenter.
- Denver, Colorado, USA - On the west coast ? Store your backups in flood-free, seismically stable Denver.
- Zurich, Switzerland - Equinix ZH4. Great european routing through init7.net.
- Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong - The very best datacenter in Hong Kong, with connectivity from Hurricane Electric.
There is no difference in cost between our locations and you may migrate your account from one location to another if you ever have reason to move. We also offer geo-redundant cloud storage where you choose the primary location and we automatically replicate your data each night to a secondary site, giving you an extra, geographically disparate copy of your data.
Which Site Should You Choose ?
The answer depends on your location and your speed requirements.
If you are on the west coast of the US and you want the fastest possible data transfer, you should choose our Fremont / Silicon Valley location.
If you are on the west coast of the US and you want geographical disparity, you should choose our Denver location.
If you are east of the mississippi, you should probably choose Denver as it will be faster for you.
Global customers in Europe and Asia should probably choose Zurich and Hong Kong, respectively, however Australian customers should test both Hong Kong and Fremont to see which route is actually faster.
Of course you may choose whatever site you wish, for any reason - we have many hundreds of US clients at our Zurich location and many hundreds of global customers in our US locations.
We are happy to provide addresses to ping and traceroute as well as test logins to compare transfer speeds. Please email info@rsync.net for this information.
Are There Any Differences Between the Sites ?
No. Other than their location and the network distance, there is no difference at all in the cloud storage platform in any of our locations. We work very hard to ensure that our platform is stable, secure and up to date globally.
For this reason, it is possible to migrate your account, free of charge, from one site to another if you require it.
What Makes rsync.net Special
We are the only cloud storage provider that gives customers a UNIX filesystem to do what they want with.
We are NOT reselling another cloud - we built and maintain our own infrastructure and have complete control over our platform.
Our ZFS platform provides resiliency and allows clients to configure point-in-time snapshots that are immutable.
We have a world class, IPV6-capable network with locations in three US cities as well as Zurich and Hong Kong.
You will receive unlimited, free technical support, over phone and email, for any use you make of our product.
We offer customizable monitoring and alerts, free of charge, using email, SMS, Pushover and webhook calls.
We've been doing this since 2001.
